Agribusiness is the number one industry in the State of Georgia and Harrison Poultry, Inc. (HPI) – a Georgia-based, family-owned and operated company – has a proven commitment to growing jobs within the communities in which they are located for more than 60 years. In 2017, HPI engaged DaVinci Winstead, a joint venture between DaVinci Development and The Winstead Group, to refine and realize their vision of expanding their company with a brand-new state-of-the-art feed mill.

After much analysis, HPI came to the conclusion that a geographic shift would need to occur for them to continue their growth and production. Through discussions and collaboration with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, the Georgia Department of Agriculture, and the UGA Small Business Development Center, the Center for Rural Prosperity and Innovation, an economic impact to move from Barrow County to Taliaferro County proved to be a significant return on investment for the company and the community for many years to come.  After assisting with the project’s site selection within a very specific set of criteria, DaVinci Winstead was further engaged as the development manager of HPI’s new feed mill under a design/build contract. In this role, DaVinci Winstead worked to select primary team members, coordinate a development control budget and schedule, and manage the construction implementation. The new feed mill has had a significant economic impact, allowing HPI to reduce costs, dramatically increase efficiency by tripling production capacity, and add hundreds of new jobs and needed income for the local community.
