Emory Point
The project team, led by a DaVinci Development executive, partnered with Emory University to transform a 53-acre site, which included outdated graduate housing, a dated motel, and woodlands, into a mixed-use master plan to serve the growing needs of the Emory community, the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention, and Emory Hospital. Ultimately, the Project included restricting 30 acres from development and focused on the remaining 22 acres, resulting in close to 700 residential units and 120,000 SF of retail. As part of the development process, the team managed zoning entitlements, including engaging with numerous neighborhood associations and University stakeholders, along with CDC federal oversight. The team also managed a 124-room expansion to the existing Emory Hotel & Conference Center owned by Emory University nestled in Hahn Woods on a peaceful 26-acre nature preserve. The development included both the construction and all the FF&E. The program featured guest rooms, 24,000 SF of conference space, as well as a 4-lane bowling alley and pub. The Hotel and Conference Center is a nod to visionary Frank Lloyd Wright in its design and hosts premier events and weddings and is a favorite destination for Emory alumni and visitors to Atlanta. Phase II of Emory Point opened in 2012, and the following year, it received the Urban Land Institute Atlanta Development Excellence Award as well as an EarthCraft Multifamily Certification.
